RN Program Earns ACEN Candidacy Status

The Merced College Registered Nursing Program has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), a key step toward full national accreditation. This designation affirms the program’s quality and strengthens opportunities for graduates seeking advanced nursing degrees or employment nationwide, including eligibility for licensure in other states. The program now enters the final phase of the accreditation process, with full accreditation expected in Fall 2027.

Another Big Grant for Merced College

Merced College has received a $1,150,000 Rebuilding Nursing Infrastructure Grant from the California Community Colleges Foundation Office to support upgrades to nursing education facilities and expand program capacity in response to regional workforce needs. The funding also strengthens the college’s partnership with California State University, Stanislaus through the Sequential Enrollment Pathway program, which allows Merced College nursing students to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing shortly after earning their RN degree while remaining in the region.

Merced College Fire Program Accreditation

The Merced College Fire Program has been awarded Accredited Regional Training Program (ARTP) status by California State Fire Training. The designation recognizes the program’s partnership with the California Office of the State Fire Marshal and its ability to provide approved state fire service training in the region. The accreditation reflects the work of the Fire Program team and expands training opportunities for students while strengthening the program’s role in the community.

Promise Housing

Construction is underway on the Promise Housing facility, a joint project between UC Merced and Merced College to expand affordable housing for community college and transfer students. Located on the UC Merced campus, the project is funded through the state’s Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program and is scheduled for completion in winter 2026.
